Could Ray Allen Be Headed To The Chicago Bulls?

We reported back in October that reports were surfacing that Ray Allen had agreed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That news was obviously untrue about Allen, an 18-year NBA veteran.

According to Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson mailbag post, the Bulls have stayed in contact with Allen’s agent Jim Tanner about signing the 39-year-old shooter.

The Bulls have stayed in contact with Allen’s representatives to see if he will play this season. If he chooses to, they’d certainly add another shooter.

Allen was spotted in Chicago in early November, but according to RealGm it wasn’t to visit the Bulls.

Nobody seems to know if Allen will even come out of retirement. However, if the Bulls or Cavs are in contention for an NBA title come March, I would expect the sharp-shooter to pick one of the Eastern Conference favorites.

Celtics President Danny Ainge had this to say about when his former player might sign with a team:

“He may wait until All-Star break or January,” Ainge said. “And just see what teams are playing well, which teams are the healthiest and which team that he thinks that he might fit in, just in the style of play. With new coaches at some different places, he may just want to see how it unfolds before he makes a decision.”
