Manny Machado makes the Play of Year in MLB so far

“Oh my Gosh!” was the reaction from Buck Showalter, the Baltimore Orioles Manager, after watching this play by 21-year-old Manny Machado.

After Yankees third baseman Luis Cruz hit a sharp grounder down the third base line, Machado lost control of the ball after attempting to backhand it. Macho marvelously recovered to get the ball in his right hand, and while falling towards the stands, was able to rifle the ball to first and get Cruz.

Maybe even better than the play was Cruz’s reaction.

Machado was named a reserve for the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.
