Adam Wainwright Admits To Grooving Pitches For Derek Jeter

Adam Wainwright admitted he grooved a fastball to Derek Jeter in the first: “I was gonna give him a couple pipe shots. He deserved it.”

It looks like St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright threw Derek Jeter some meatballs to try and get him a hit in his final All-Star game. Not sure this is the type of thing that you make public, then again maybe that’s just me. It’s a nice gesture, but still.

Adam Wainwright slammed on the brakes and backtracked pretty hard with his comments.

Derek Jeter didn’t seem to mind that he grooved the pitch, so no one else should mind either.
