Just when you think the NCAA can’t come up with dumber rules, they go ahead and do this. The NCAA has banned college football players from wearing “crop top” jerseys.
Officials will treat illegal equipment issues—such as jerseys tucked under the shoulder pads or exposed back pads—by making the player leave the field for at least one play. The equipment must be corrected for the player to return to the game. The player may remain in the game if his team takes a timeout to correct the equipment issue.
They don’t give a reason as to why, but it will effect one big name player, OSU RB Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott explained why he wears his jersey tucked up earlier this year, saying he doesn’t like how long the jerseys are because defensive players can grab onto them.
Elliott’s father is going to protest the new rule by wearing a “crop top” jersey in the stands, because why not.
