Blades’ father, Al Blades Sr., was a star safety for Miami. He spent two years with the San Francisco 49ers before he died in a car crash in March 2003. Blades, ranked as the No. 77 prospect in the 2018 class, picked the Hurricanes over Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan and Penn State amongst others.
