Bobby Petrino to replace Charlie Strong as Louisville coach

Reports are surfacing that Louisville will re-hire Bobby Petrino seven years after he left the program. Petrino coached UL from 2003-2006 before leaving (on bad terms) to coach the Atlanta Falcons in 2007, where he signed a five-year, $24 million dollar deal. When Michael Vick’s dog fighting story broke out in Petrino’s first year,  he decided to bolt from the Falcons to take the Arkansas job. At Arkansas, Petrino is most notably known for one event. It started with a motorcycle accident and the ensuing investigation, which revealed that Petrino was having an affair with Jessica Dorrell, an Arkansas athletic department employee, who Petrino had hired himself.

Last season at Western Kentucky, Petrino led the team to an 8-4 record. Petrino coached Louisville to a 41-9 record. He is taking over for new Texas head coach Charlie Strong. Pretty unbelievable coaching carousel we’ve already seen this offseason, but this will likely be the most shocking.
