Ahead of Michigan State’s opening NCAA tournament game against Bucknell in Detroit, Tom Izzo issued the following on the Spartans ‘tough’ regular season:
Izzo: "We've played maybe not the toughest schedule in the Big Ten, but we've played through maybe the toughest situation of any team in the Big Ten." Adds "this team has done an incredible job & will never get the credit they deserve."

The Spartans played each of the top six teams in the Big Ten this season only once – Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State (all were played at home except for OSU).
MSU did play North Carolina, Duke and Notre Dame during the non-conference.
