Report: Warriors Planned To Walk Off Court Following Tip In Game 5 To Boycott Donald Sterling

Warriors FanAccording to Marcus Thompson, a reporter for The Mercury News, if not for Adam Silver’s announcement today on Donald Sterling, the entire Golden State Warriors roster was planning to boycott Game 5 with the Los Angles Clippers and walk off the court following the tip.

“It would have been our only chance to make a statement in front of the biggest audience that we weren’t going to accept anything but the maximum punishment,” Curry said. “We would deal with the consequences later but we were not going to play.”

After a 30 minute players-only meeting during the morning shootaround, they came up with a plan. The Warriors would go through all of the pregame motions, from warmups to lineup introductions.

Thompson also writes that the Clippers were to be involved as well and Curry, David Lee, Jermaine O’Neal and Draymond Green were behind the boycott idea. There’s no doubt this would have been a historic event had it happened.
