San Diego State RB Adam Muema leaves Combine, cites religion

Adam Muema SDSU

It’s safe to say that this is the most interesting story to ever come out of the NFL Combine and that it is highly unlikely to ever be topped. San Diego State running back Adam Muema was projected to go between the 4th and 7th rounds of the NFL Draft and was invited to the Combine. But when it came time to participate, Muema was nowhere to be found.

From U~T San Diego:

He said he was “following God,” who told him if he missed workouts, he’d play for the Seattle Seahawks.

Playing for Seattle is his “dream,” Muema said. NFL teams are aware of the decision.

“Can’t go wrong with God,” Muema said.

Muema spoke Sunday in a phone interview from the Indianapolis International Airport. He was set to return to the city where he trained for the combine. The Covina native will have the opportunity to work out for clubs at San Diego State’s pro day next month.

“(God) told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace,” he said.

Muema said he communicates with God through numbers.

I’m sure there will be plenty of teams that red flag this. If a team other than Seattle drafts Muema will he show up? Also of note, Muema’s Twitter Profile now says “Seahawks #8”, though it is against NFL rules for a running back to wear #8.

My summary on Muema’s strategy/actions:
