TCU unveils new Nike uniforms with terrible helmet

The TCU Horned Frogs football program has grown to the point where they are a school that Nike will actually design special uniforms for and they have even joined the Big 12 conference.  They have certainly come a long way the last 10 years, but unfortunately for them, this new uniform is terrible.  The jersey and the pants themselves are actually pretty cool, in fact, they’re pretty similar to what they normally wear.  The big issue is the god awful helmet that Nike created for them.

The purple and black camo could have worked if it weren’t for the TCU logo on the back and the gaudy red stripes that make absolutely no sense whatsoever.  If they removed the red stripes and put a TCU logo on each side of the helmet, or removed the logo all together, these uniforms could actually look pretty good.  I just don’t understand the infusion of red on the helmet and in the gloves.  Luckily, this jersey is only for the Cowboy Classic game against the LSU Tigers and not a new home jersey.
