USA Softball player Amber Freeman injures ankle on home run, helped around bases

On Sunday, the women’s World Cup of Softball was going on with a match up between the US and Puerto Rico.  Team USA’s Amber Freeman hit two home runs during USA’s 10-3 win and on the second home run, she twisted her ankle running around 1st base.  Puerto Rico’s shortstop, Galis Lozada and third baseman, Dayanira Diaz, decided to help Freeman round the bases so that she could score.  This is eerily similar to the Western Oregon-Central Washington College Softball game that became a poster for sportsmanship.  It seems that girls who play softball have a special ability to help their opponents.

Freeman is a catcher and just finished her sophomore year at Arizona State.
