Former Detroit Red Wing and current Chicago Blackhawk Marian Hossa went down pretty easily with about six minutes left in the third period with the game tied 1-1. Niklas Kronwall was called for tripping on the play and he got in Hossa’s face after the penalty was called because he was upset at Hossa for diving. Kronwall’s stick gets up in the midsection of Hossa a bit, but there is no way that an NHL player would go down that easily. Not only that, it’s a hooking penalty if anything, you can’t trip someone when your stick is around their midsection.
Mike Babcock echoed the sentiment of many Red Wings fans while he was on the bench.
