MLB admits to “improper call” after A’s were robbed of home run

The Oakland A’s have a very good reason to be mad after Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Indians. It appeared that A’s shortstop Adam Rosales hit the game-tying home-run off Indians closer Chris Perez in the ninth inning. The play was ruled a double on the field, and even after reviewing it, the umpires stuck to the double call (even though the ball clearly hits the railing behind the home-run wall).

MLB has a messy situation on their hands, and following the game, somewhat admitted to the error of not reversing the call on the field by head umpire Angel Hernandez. Joe Torre, MLB’s executive vice president, was quoted as saying “given what we saw, we recognize an improper call was made. Perfection is an impossible standard in any endeavor, but our goal is always to get the calls right.”

Rightfully so, several Athletic player took to Twitter to vent their frustration with the reviewed play.
