Johan Franzen scores from center ice on Miika Kiprusoff

The Detroit Red Wings are in danger of missing the NHL Playoffs for the first time since the 1989-1990 season.  Losing 3-1 to the Calgary Flames, the Red Wings were in need of a break and with 2:42 left in the third period they got one.  Johan Franzen dumped a weak backhand shot in from center ice and it skipped just far enough in front of Flames goalie Miika Kiprusoff that he couldn’t react in time and it went through his five hole.

Unfortunately for the Red Wings, they went on to lose the game 3-2 and are out of the final playoff spot by two points.  Aside from the one bad goal, Kiprusoff was amazing in net and put up 36 saves.  The Wings have five games left on the schedule and will need to get it together quickly if they want to keep the streak alive.
