Kansas City police release video of Jovan Belcher asleep in his car before murder-suicide

Before Jovan Belcher murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself, police were called to check on a suspicious vehicle at 3 am.

Belcher and his girlfriend had been in an argument around 1 am, and Belcher left the apartment.  Two hours later, he was found asleep in his Bentley by the Police.  You can hear an officer say to him, “we’re just trying to cut you a break here.”  While another officer says to him, “you live right here? You just need to go upstairs, dude…You know you got a lot to lose.”

When Belcher finally leaves the vehicle, you can see him talking with the officer and presumably thanking them.  It was kind of them to cut him a break, but you have to wonder what would have happened if they had arrested him or not cut him a break.  Could they have prevented a murder-suicide?  Obviously, they had no way of knowing what would happen later that day, but it’s interesting to think about.
