Chiefs set up Jovan Belcher’s locker for game day

To honor their troubled teammate who committed suicide after murdering his girlfriend, the Kansas City Chiefs staff decided to set up his locker room stall.  This has obviously been a traumatic time for those involved and you can’t help but feel horrible for the Belcher and his girlfriend’s families.

I’m very conflicted about the way the Chiefs handled this.  I understand that the Chiefs want to honor their friend and teammate and they deserve the right to do so, but for me, I don’t know if this is the best way to do it. But in this situation, what is the right response??

Belcher was in his fourth season out of the University of Maine.  He was an undrafted free agent and had played in all 11 of the Chiefs games this season. More information will probably come out as to why this horrible incident happened, but for now, we want to send our sympathies to both families, the player and the Chiefs organization.

Here’s Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel, who witnessed Belcher’s suicide, following the teams 27-21 victory over the Panthers.
