Channing Crowder points out Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte as pot smoking Olympians

Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder (who is also a former Florida Gator) is now working as a mid-day radio show host for the 560 WQM radio station.  It appears that his new found outlet has given him a new sense of urgency to tell stories from years past that would have been a bit incriminating had they been told sooner.

Most have seen the infamous photo of Michael Phelps taking a hit out of a bong, which surfaced more than three years ago.  Crowder now says that he was in South Beach around three weeks before that photo surfaced and he said he saw Michael Phelps with rapper Young Jeezy in a club, sitting in the VIP section together.

Crowder said of Phelps, “I shook his hand and he was blowing people off because he was drunk too, and I see him hit the blunt later on when Jeezy passed it. No lie! I don’t get star struck or impressed by many people but when I saw Young Jeezy hand Michael Phelps a blunt that was impressive to me.”

The story telling doesn’t stop there though, as Crowder was quick to bring Ryan Lochte into the fray, since they were both at Florida at the same time.

Crowder referred to Lochte as a hippie pothead, and said that he would see him around smoking weed with his long blonde hair.  He also says that he didn’t know Lochte’s name until he recognized him swimming with his Florida Gators cap on at the Olympic Trials.

Crowder continued his discussion of the two and swimming by saying that they only have to swim for four months out of every four years, and so they have three years to mess around and do what they want.

This is the only questionable part of Crowder’s statements, and is a gross over-simplification of Swimming and the training that swimmers have to do.  Either way, this can’t be the type of thing that Phelps and Lochte want out in the open, because they don’t want to ruin any endorsements that they have.  That being said, it might explain why Lochte isn’t very good in interviews and his most recent experience on College Gameday.
