Indians reliever leaves bullpen too early

Indians reliever Joe Smith made a name for himself last week after an awkward bar incidence where the bartender didn’t believe he was a pitcher for the Indians and wouldn’t serve him. Thursday afternoon was another one of those moment for Smith, when he jumped the gun from the bullpen and ran onto the field without a call from his manager.

Obviously, Smith’s thinking was that when skipper, Manny Acta, was going to send him in to face Miguel Cabrera and replace starter, Justin Masterson. In fact, Acta was only discussing strategy with Masterson, who pitched through the seventh inning jam and recorded the win for the Indians over the Tigers.

Chalk this up as another embarrassing moment for Joe Smith, who is becoming quite the entertainer.
